NEW SINGLE

Nirvana was written a year ago from the heart of my small LA apartment. In fact, most of the song was written and finished in that very apartment. It's a song birthed from one of my most heartbreaking... and ironically mature relationships. It was a relationship that I loved and cherished, but we grew apart because we changed and life changed... and we needed to go our separate ways... and that sucked. And that hardest part was all the wonderful things that lingered.

The song details the experiences and things in life that now all hold memory of my previous partner, now ex. Things as simple as driving through a neighborhood, walking in a grocery store, listening to a band... all now feel painful and different because the person who I shared so much of my life is no longer there. I wanted to write a song that wasn't just about the pain of losing someone but the pain of having to acknowledge them in EVERYTHING in your life once they're gone.

Inspired by the female experience of being the subject of rumor Machina wanted to embody a handful of iconic and controversial women in history.

Visually bringing to life the mentality of "I'm every woman," in this video Machina plays characters ranging from Marilyn Monroe to her 19-year-old self.

She wanted to highlight societies intent to utilize women for their entertainment but their inability to listen to them when it matters most.
